The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference recently announced the fall honorees of the HCAC All-Academic awards for the 2017-18 school year. Twenty Bluffton University athletes were recognized for their efforts in the classroom. Cross Country and Football were impressive with five and four honorees, respectively.
For the fourth straight season, the Bluffton University football team has an all-region selection in junior Isaac Zickafoose. Zickafoose is the third two-time D3football.com All-North Region honoree in the past three seasons following 2015 First Team selection Ryan Aelker and Micah Roberson.
The Bluffton University football team capped off its 2017 season with nine Beavers earning All-Heartland Conference honors following voting by the head coaches. Bluffton saw three individuals selected to the first team, three to the second team and three were named honorable mention.
After a year in Defiance, the 'Hammer' is back in its rightful home after a 33-26 Bluffton victory on Saturday, Nov. 11. The Beavers improved to 4-6 overall and 4-4 in the Heartland Conference. Bluffton has now won seven of its last eight against the Yellow Jackets for a 46-45-2 advantage in the all-time series!
The Bluffton University football team played its final 2017 home game against the Earlham College Quakers, and for the 21 seniors, it was their last time ever playing on Alumni Field. A quick start by the Beavers was key and they never looked back, marching to a 65-21 win, which established a new Bluffton record for points in a game.
The Bluffton University football squad was back on its home turf after two weeks on the road as the Beavers faced one of the top teams in the conference, the Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers. On a cloudy, chilly fall afternoon, the Beavers fought hard in the contest, keeping the score close for all 60 minutes.
