Bluffton fires a 334 on final day of HCAC Championships

ANDERSON, Ind. - The Bluffton University men's golf team capped off the Heartland Conference Championships with its best day of the tournament on Sunday, May 5. With Saturday washed out due to standing water on the greens, Bluffton finished its 2018-19 campaign with a 334 at the Anderson Country Club. The 1,042 championship total placed Bluffton 8th, ahead of both Anderson University (1,049) and Manchester University (1,142).

Freshman Carter Mumbower (Newport, MI/Airport) shot Bluffton's lowest round of the two-week championship with a 78 on Sunday. Sophomore Anthony Mungia (North Baltimore), who missed the opening weekend with an injury, made up for lost time with an 83 on the final day. Nick Offenburger (Lexington) was two strokes back at 85, while Michael Fimiani (Willoughby) and Spencer Daniels (Ashland) rounded out the day at 88 and 89, respectively.

Mumbower took home top honors for the Beavers with a 253 at his first Heartland Conference Golf Championships. Daniels went for 260 over the past two weekends.

Sunday marked the end of the season for Bluffton as the Beavers improved upon their 9th place HCAC finish from 2018.
