Coach Elvert ready for men to kick off 2018 campaign

August 8, 2018

When the Bluffton Men's Soccer program takes the pitch at Muskingum on Friday, Aug. 31, the Beavers will have a new coach at the helm. Just 12 months removed from his two-year tenure as an assistant coach with the program, Sean Elvert returns as the man in command and will continue to push the program in a new direction! He replaces James Kusak who was named the University of Louisville director of soccer operations this spring after two years of restructuring and rebuilding the program.

Coach Elvert has a deep class of sophomores returning along with junior Nicholas Hoffman (Lima/Shawnee). In addition to the depth of second-year players, there will be an influx of first-year talent that will combine with the current roster to fuel the change the program is experiencing. The Beavers showed tremendous growth on and off the field over the past two seasons, taking advantage of the recruiting efforts of Elvert, Kusak and current assistant coach David Malaquias.

The Beavers kick off the campaign with a weekend of Pittsburgh satellite schools at Muskingum on Friday, August 31 and Saturday, Sept. 1 when they play Bradford and Greensburg on consecutive days. The home opener is slated for Saturday, Sept. 8 when Olivet College comes to town. Bluffton slices into Heartland Conference action on Saturday, Sept. 29 with a trip to always-tough Rose-Hulman before heading to rival Defiance College four days later. The men's home finale is on the books for Wednesday, Oct. 23 against Manchester University.
