Transy rallies for 3-2 victory at Bluffton

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's soccer team went up 2-0 a pair of tallies in minute 38, but Transylvania came back for the 3-2 win on a blustery Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018. Bluffton fell to 2-14 overall and 1-6 in the Heartland Conference, while Transy improved to 7-4-3 and 5-1-1 in the HCAC.

Patrick Spillman (Anderson, Ind.) found Dalton Taynor (Troy, Ohio/Miami East) for his team-best 7th goal of the season at the 37:06 mark before Trent Mast (Southington, Ohio/Cardinal) connected with Alex Foster (Howard, Ohio/Mount Vernon) less than 30 seconds later for a quick 2-0 lead!

The Pioneers cut their deficit in half with 3:39 to play in the opening stanza and then completely erased it at the 56:39 mark. Jason Murillo found the back of the net five minutes later for what proved to be the game winner as Transy denied Bluffton a chance at just its second-ever victory over the Pioneers.

Taynor and Spillman led the Beavers with two shots apiece, while freshman Hunter Fleck (North Baltimore, Ohio/Van Buren) wrapped up six saves.

Transy posted an 18-6 advantage in shots and 7-4 spread in corner kicks. The visitors were whistled for three more fouls (13-10).

Bluffton is back at the Sears Complex for its 2018 home finale when Manchester University comes to town on Wednesday, Oct. 24. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. Come out and support your Beavers!
