Anderson holds off Bluffton 3-1 in season finale

ANDERSON, Ind. - The Bluffton University men's soccer team fell behind 2-0 in the first half and that proved to be the difference as Anderson collected a 3-1 victory on Saturday, Oct. 27. Bluffton ended its season 2-16 overall and 1-8 in the Heartland Conference, while Anderson finished 6-10-2 and 3-5-1 in the HCAC.

Freshman Jacob Kiger found the back of the net for his second goal of the season in minute 59, making it 2-1 Anderson with just over 30 minutes to play. The Ravens answered right back less than five minutes later and the home team made it stand up for the 3-1 final on Saturday.

Kiger finished with a team-high four shots, including two on frame. Timothy Murphy (Chesterfield, Twp., MI/L'Anse Creuse), Dalton Taynor (Troy, Ohio/Miami East) and Alex Foster (Howard, Ohio/Mount Vernon) all chipped in with two shots for the visitors. Hunter Fleck (North Baltimore, Ohio/Van Buren) and Connor Kaminicki (Northfield, Ohio/Nordonia) combined for six saves in the finale.

Anderson posted a 21-13 edge in shots, but just 9-7 on frame. The Ravens forced eight more corner kicks (11-3) and they were whistled for two more fouls (13-11).
