BLUFFTON, Ohio - After a long road stretch, the Bluffton University men's soccer team returned to its home pitch as the Beavers welcomed the College of Wooster on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019. Despite a hard-fought game, the Fighting Scots' offense was too much for the Beavers as Wooster secured a 5-0 shutout of the home team. Bluffton fell to 4-4 on the season, while Wooster improved to 4-5.

The Beaver defense was able to hold off the Fighting Scots until the 28th minute when Wooster's Andreas Xenofontos secured a goal to give the visiting team a 1-0 lead. Wooster's Max Hill netted a shot to give the Fighting Scots a 2-0 lead at half. Back-to-back shots by the visiting team's Manny Burton and Luca Napora followed by a final goal from Moody Saadi secured Wooster's 5-0 shutout. Bluffton's offense was powered by Patrick Spillman (Anderson, IN/Frankton) with three shots.

Bluffton tallied nine shots in the match with Wooster putting up 24. The Fighting Scots also forced four more corner kicks (8-4), but were whistled for one more foul (13-12). Freshman keeper Tanner Newport (Hamilton, VA/Loudoun Valley) walked away with three saves on the day.

The men are on the road again on Friday, Sept. 27, when they travel to Albion College for a 6 p.m. matchup against the Britons. Go Beavers!
