The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference recently announced the spring honorees of the HCAC All-Academic awards for the 2018 school year. Twenty-three Bluffton University athletes were recognized for their efforts in the classroom.
Seniors Brittany Huff and Josie McElroy have been named All-Central Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Huff earned Second Team honors, while McElroy was selected Honorable Mention. It marks the ninth and tenth NFCA All-Region selections for the Beavers, including three straight years for McElroy!
The Bluffton University softball team had four of its members recognized when the All-Heartland Conference awards were announced on Wednesday, May 10. Brittany Huff earned First Team honors, while fellow senior Josie McElroy and sophomore Courtney Jasinski were selected to the Second Team.
The Bluffton University softball team capped off its 2018 season in style with a 5-1 victory over Rose-Hulman on a cold Saturday, April 28. Bluffton's seniors took center stage as Josie McElroy and Brittany Huff both went yard while Jessie Madzia got it done in the circle.
The Bluffton Beaver softball team hit the road to face off against the Manchester University Spartans in their last road matchup of the 2018 season on Wednesday, April 25. A sixth-inning comeback by the hosts led to an 8-3 Bluffton loss in the first game of the day.
The Dutchman picked up a run in the top of the second to cut the Beaver lead to 3-2 before senior Josie McElroy set the school record for career home runs with her 21st, a solo bomb to right center which made it 4-2 Bluffton.
