BLUFFTON, Ohio - Junior shortstop Caylin Morstadt (Delaware/Rutherford B. Hayes) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Hitter of the Week.
Morstadt led Bluffton with a .478 batting average as the Beavers went 2-6 over their final eight games in Florida last week. The junior finished with team highs of 11 hits, 10 runs, a .783 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage.
Morstadt hit a solo shot to straightaway center which tied Heidelberg 2-2 in the sixth inning of Bluffton's second game on Monday night. She finished the job an inning later when her two-run bomb to left center capped off Bluffton's 5-3 win over the Student Princes.
The Beavers (2-8, 0-0 HCAC) are slated to host doubleheaders against Kalamazoo (Thursday) and Albion (Saturday) later this week.
