Janel Hayes will be entering her second year as an assistant softball coach at Bluffton University during the 2018-19 school year. Hayes will be joining second-year Head Coach Amanda DeMoine.

A four-year letterwinner for the Kent State University Golden Flashes, Hayes appeared in 42 games for Kent State, making 32 starts during her sophomore season as a utility player. The following year, she helped the team to back-to-back Mid-American Conference championships in the circle. During her senior campaign in 2017, Hayes also helped the Golden Flashes to a Mid-American Conference tournament championship where they received an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Waco Regional. Hayes was both a three-time Academic All-MAC and an NFCA Scholar-Athlete recipient.

Hayes currently resides in Bluffton, but is originally from Long Beach, Cal. She received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in Exercise Specialist from Kent State University in May of 2017. Her main duties will be working with the battery, game planning, recruiting and designing player workouts both in-season and for off seasons.
