Liming goals propel Beavers to first victory

Hiram, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team secured its first victory under Head Coach Kevin Gregory on a rainy Saturday, Sept. 8, at Hiram College! The Beavers improved to 1-3 on the season thanks to a Skylar Liming (St. Marys/Memorial) score with less than eight minutes to play.

Hiram jumped on top 2-0 with a pair of goals in the first 16 minutes. Bluffton cut the deficit in half with a Madison Baker (Greenville, Ohio/Greenville) tally at the 40:54 mark thanks to a nice feed from senior Skylar Liming. Liming knotted it with her fourth goal of the season in minute 61 and she un-knotted it with eight minutes to play with a scoring shot that sent the Beavers to their first victory of the season.

Liming paced the Beavers with five shots, two goals and an assist. Sophomore Jules Frazier (Nova, Ohio/Mapleton) clamped down in the second half, piling up 16 saves.

Hiram pelted the Beavers with 32 shots, 22 more than Bluffton, but the Terriers were also whistled for 14 more fouls (19-5). The home team forced eight more corners (11-3) in their loss to the Beavers.

Bluffton returns to the Sears Complex for a Friday afternoon tussle with Grace Bible College on Sept. 14. The contest is slated for 3:30 p.m. Come out and support your Beavers!
