Grace Bible downs Bluffton 4-3

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team scored in the first minute and late in each period, but Grace Bible checked in with two goals each half en route to the 4-3 victory on a hot Friday, Sept. 14, 2018. Bluffton fell to 1-4 on the season, while the Tigers upped their mark to 2-3 following the hard-fought victory.

Sophomore Taylor Steinke (Findlay, Ohio) headed home Skylar Liming's (St. Marys/Memorial) corner kick less than a minute into the contest for her first goal of the season and a quick 1-0 lead. The visitors wasted little time turning the momentum in their favor as Brandy Weaver netted a goal in minute 10 and again at the 13:01 mark as Grace took a 2-1 lead. Junior Lauryn Foster-Wheeler (Sidney, Ohio) bumped in the equalizer with 2:30 to play in the first half thanks to a feed from Heartland Conference Player of the Week Skylar Liming with a touch off the foot of Tajah Upshaw (Lima/Senior).

The Tigers doubled up Bluffton with 30 minutes to play when Brandy Weaver followed Maddie Brown's tally with her third goal of the match for a 4-2 spread. Bluffton battled to the end as freshman Madison Baker (Greenville, Ohio) knocked in her second goal of the season with less than 10 seconds to play, making the final score 4-3.

Steinke paced the Beaver offense with four shots, while Liming and junior Aubrey Bartel (Newton, KS) fired three apiece. Bluffton piled up all 13 corner kicks in the match and finished with a 21-15 edge in shots. The Tigers were whistled for two more fouls (11-9).

The Beavers return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 19, when they travel to Huntington University for a 4 p.m. matchup with the Foresters.
