Earlham nets game-winner for 2-1 victory in overtime

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Earlham College Quakers found the back of the net with 2:18 to play in overtime for a 2-1 victory over visiting Bluffton University on Wednesday, Oct. 10. Bluffton fell to 1-10-1 overall and 0-4 in the Heartland Conference, while Earlham improved to 7-6 and 1-3 in the HCAC.

The Beavers erased a 1-0 Quaker lead at the 66:07 mark when freshman Julia Gibson (New Carlisle/Tecumseh) knocked in the equalizer. The 1-1 score held until just over seven minutes into the extra session when Yana Miller gave Earlham the 2-1 victory with her fifth goal of the season.

Earlham finished with a marked 20-6 edge in shots, including 12-3 on frame. The home team forced the action with six of the seven corners in the match. Senior Skylar Liming (St Marys/Memorial) led the Beavers with five shots. Sophomore Sienna Sullivan (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) kept the Beavers in the match with 10 saves.

Bluffton is back on the road this Saturday, Oct. 13, when the Beavers travel to Hanover College for a 1 p.m. matchup with the Panthers.
