Oberlin tops Bluffton 4-1 under the lights

OBERLIN, Ohio - The Oberlin College Yeowomen tripped up Bluffton 4-1 on a rare Sunday night contest under the lights. Bluffton slipped to 0-2, while Oberlin evened up its season mark at 1-1.

Trailing 4-0 midway through the second half, the Beavers finally cracked the scoreboard when sophomore Julia Gibson (New Carlisle/Tecumseh) found freshman Taylor Dye (Big Prairie/West Holmes) with just under 17 minutes to play.

Gibson and Maddie Huffman (Maineville/Little Miami) paced the offense with two shots apiece. Junior keeper Sienna Sullivan (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) worked the net with 10 saves for the visitors.

Oberlin finished with a marked 26-6 advantage in shots, including 16-4 on frame. The Yeowomen forced two more corners (5-3), while both squads were whistled for nine fouls.

Bluffton travels to Goshen College for a 5 p.m. matchup with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
