Goshen pulls out 2-1 OT win over Bluffton

GOSHEN, Ind. - The Bluffton University women's soccer team lost a close one on the road at Goshen, 2-1, in overtime on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019. Bluffton dropped to 0-3 while Goshen evened its record at 2-2.

After a scoreless first half, Goshen's Kaitlyn Begley started off the second period with a quick goal to give the Leafs a 1-0 lead. Bluffton's Nina McGinn (Marion/Harding) answered back with a Beaver goal to tie the game up at 1-1 with less than 10 minutes to play, sending the match into overtime. With just seconds left in the first extra session, Goshen's Paige Renshaw netted a shot to secure the Maple Leaf victory.

Goshen took 24 shots in the match (14 on goal) while Bluffton fired just three shots (two on goal). The home team also forced five more corner kicks (6-1). Junior Keeper Jules Frazier (Nova/Mapleton) walked away with 12 saves for the Beavers in her first start of the season.

The Bluffton women will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 7, when they welcome Thiel College to the Dam. The non-conference contest is slated for 3:30 p.m. following the 1:30 men's matchup with Shawnee State. Come out and support your Beavers!
