LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Bluffton University volleyball team has been named a recipient of the 2017-18 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The team award marked the fourth consecutive (eight total) for the Beavers.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

Bluffton opens its 2018 season at the Ohio Northern University Invitational, starting on Friday, August 31 at 6 p.m. against HCAC rival Defiance College. The Beavers were victorious over Defiance College in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) tournament quarterfinals last season, before bowing out to eventual HCAC tournament champion Hanover College.
