Ada, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team kicked off the 2018 season with 3-1 win over rival Defiance College at the ONU Invitational on Friday, August 31. Bluffton downed the Jackets in four sets (25-14, 25-14, 24-26, 25-20).
Bethany Martini (Pickerington/North) led the Beavers with 19 kills and added a whopping 15 digs. Fellow senior Erin Weisgarber (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) couldn't be stopped as she dominated with a triple double (38 assists, 11 kills and 16 digs). Freshman Brooke Kleman (Ottawa/Ottawa-Glandorf) was all over the floor, tallying 20 digs, while seniors Abby Rohrbach (New Knoxville) and Courtney Zimpfer (Jackson Center) added 19 and 13 pickups, respectively.
Bluffton returns to the King Horn Center in Ada at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday when the Beavers tackle Thomas More before a meeting with Case Reserve at 2:30 p.m.
