Bluffton earns AVCA Team Academic Award

The Bluffton University volleyball team has been named a recipient of the 2018-19 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The team award marked the fifth consecutive (nine total) for the Beavers.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

The AVCA announced that a record total of 1,125 teams earned the award. For the complete list of programs earning the award, click here.

Bluffton opens its 2019 season at the Inspire Hope Tournament in Holland, MI, starting on Friday, August 30 at 7:30 p.m. against Wisconsin Lutheran. The Beavers were victorious over long-time nemesis Hanover College in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) tournament quarterfinals last season, before bowing out to tournamant host Transylvania.
