Quakers end Bluffton's season in HCAC Tournament

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Bluffton University women's volleyball team traveled to Earlham College on Nov. 6, 2019 for their 12th consecutive appearance in the Heartland Conference Tournament. The Beavers dropped a 3-0 decision (25-19, 25-21, 25-20) to the Quakers. It marked the first time Bluffton has been knocked out of the HCAC Tournament before the semi-finals since 2012.

Remi Bower (Deshler/Patrick Henry) led the offense with nine kills. Fellow junior Sarah Heydinger (Tiro/Buckeye Central) and senior Carley Lester (Chesapeake) chipped in seven and five winners, respectively. Sophomore Maddie White (Ashland) dished out 15 helpers and also knocked down six kills in the loss.

White also led the Beaver defense with 14 digs. Brooke Kleman (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf) tallied 11 pickups. Bower was a stat sheet stuffer as she picked up 10 digs, fired a career high four aces and was in on three blocks.

Bluffton ended the 2019 season at 7-24 overall. The All-Heartland Conference hardware is slated to be handed out on Monday, Nov. 11, so continue to check the website.
