John Carroll University is excited and honored to host the 2023 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Great Lakes Cross Country Regional Championships on Saturday, November 11 at the Silver Creek Cross Country Course in Norton, Ohio.

Monday, November 6


11:00 am - MANDATORY Virtual Coaches’ Meeting

Tuesday, November 7 

5:00 pm - Deadline for late regional entries (subject to a fine of $400 per gender)


Wednesday, November 8

TBD - Box Assignments drawn by NCAA. Updated on the website when announced. 

Friday, November 10 

12:30-4:30 pm - Course Inspection/Practice        

2:00-5:00 pm - Packet Pick-Up
            LOCATION: Course Site at Officials Tent near starting line

Saturday, November 11

9:00 am - Course Opens

9:40 am - Clerking Begins
            (MEN: Clerking time period is from 9:40 to 10:40 am)
            (WOMEN: May begin clerking up until 11:40 am)

10:30 am - First gun fired (30 minutes to start of men’s race)

10:35 am - National Anthem

10:40 am - Second gun fired (20 minutes to start)
            (Men’s competitors must report to starting boxes)
            (Clerking process is completed for men’s race)
            (Women’s clerking remains open until 11:40 am)

10:50 am - Third gun fired (10 minutes to start)

11:00 am - Men’s 8000-meter championship race

11:30 am - First gun fired (30 minutes to start of women’s race)

11:40 am - Second gun fired (20 minutes to start)
            (Women’s competitors must report to assigned boxes)
            (Clerking process is completed for women’s race)

11:50 am - Third gun fired (10 minutes to start)

12:00 pm - Women’s 6000-meter championship race

1:30 pm - Awards Ceremony (earlier if we are ready and past the protest period) 

DIRECTIONS TO THE COURSE
The course address is Silver Creek Cross Country Course 4579 S. Medina Line Road Norton, Ohio and is a part of the Summit County Metropark system. 
*Note: This address will vary for spectator, team, and overflow parking. See below for more details.

Friday, November 10

*We will have at least one parking attendant on site
  • Address is 4579 S. Medina Line Road, Norton, Ohio 44203
    • The paved turnaround lot will be used for bus parking or van drop-off 
    • Vans will park at the grass lot to the north
      • The crushed stone walking path will direct you to the course 
    • Bus Overflow Parking will be directed to Sherman & White Spar Shelter Parking: 5000 S. Hametown Road Norton, Ohio 44203
      • The entrance off of S. Medina Line is a one way road

*We will have attendance on site in the paved turnaround lot, grass lot, and Wadsworth High School parking lot 
  • Buses
    • Drop-Off Address is 4579 S. Medina Line Road, Norton, Ohio 44203
      • The paved turnaround lot will be used for ONLY charter bus drop-off (35 passenger and above)
        • Charter buses will be directed to Wadsworth High School: 625 Broad Street, Wadsworth, Ohio
        • Mini buses (35 passenger or less) will park in the north side of the paved turnaround lot as directed by an attendant 
          • Overflow will be directed to either the grass parking lot or Wadsworth High School 
  • Vans
    • ALL vans will drop-off and park in the grass parking lot, just north of the course
      • The crushed stone walking path will direct you to the course
    • Please no vans in the paved parking lot! 

SPECTATOR PARKING
Saturday, November 11
*There will be two parking lots accessible to spectators. One on site and another off site.  
*PLEASE plan ahead as we anticipate a large contingent of spectators. 
  • On-Site Parking: 4579 S. Medina Line Road, Norton, Ohio 44203

    • Once this lot is full, you will be directed to Wadsworth High School for additional parking (see directions below)
    • The grass lot just north of the course is limited to 400 parking spots and we'll be on a first-come first-serve basis.
    • We have a limited number of handicap parking on-site in the paved lot
    • Potential Option/Alternative: A resident directly across the street from the course will be charging $5 (cash) for parking in his front lawn until full.
      • Note: All other parking is FREE
  • Off-Site Parking:
    • Off-Site Spectator Overflow + Shuttle Map (PDF)

        • Shuttle Service
          • Two charter buses will be transporting spectators to and from the course every 15 minutes from 9:30 am - 3:00 pm

WEATHER POLICY

In the event of inclement weather, please check the @JCUXCTF Twitter/X feed for information on delays and/or postponement. Information as it is available will also be shared on this website. 

In the event of severe weather, shelter for teams, coaches, and race volunteers will be asked to seek shelter in their team vehicles or team camps. Spectators will be asked to seek shelter in their vehicles or charter buses.

SPECTATOR INFORMATION

NO dogs will be allowed on the course throughout the meet. Only spectators will be able to view both races. 

MERCHANDISE INFORMATION

Official NCAA Championship merchandise will be available on-site Friday-Saturday while supplies last. 

SPORTS INFORMATION

An official photographer will be on site during both the men’s and women’s races and photos will be uploaded as soon as possible at the conclusion of the meet. There will be a number of JCU student workers who will be at the meet handling media and other necessities. 

The races will potentially be streamed, but might not be able to happen due to the connectivity and internet issues that could come up. All depends on the type of equipment we are using on the day.
