Tyler Wright returned to Bluffton University as the quarterbacks coach in March of 2019. Wright played quarterback for the Beavers from 2010-2012, earning Honorable Mention All-Heartland Conference accolades in 2010 and 2012. Upon graduation, Wright joined the Beaver staff as the running backs coach for two seasons. During those two years, the Bluffton ground game saw the running backs garner over 2,400 yards rushing and lead the conference in individual rushing yards per game (96).

 

Upon departing Bluffton, Wright joined the staff at Troy High School from 2015-spring 2019. In his time at Troy, Wright served as the special teams coordinator, quarterbacks coach, followed by offensive coordinator his final two seasons. During his time at Troy, Wright produced a 1,000 yard passer every season. Over his 4 year tenure as quarterback coach, Troy saw their quarterbacks throw for over 6,500 yards and 49 TD's. In the fall of 2017 and 2018 the Trojans qualified for the OHSAA playoffs with Wright as their offensive coordinator. Wright's offenses led multiple categories in the GWOC American North Conference, including: 1st in points per game, 1st in yards per game, 1st in rushing touchdowns, and 1st in completion percentage.

 

Wright is excited to be back coaching for the Beavers. He also teaches mathematics at Troy High School. Wright and his wife Courtney reside in Troy with their 6-year-old daughter, Lucy.
