Beavers kick off season with shutout of Pitt-Bradford

NEW CONCORD, Ohio - The Bluffton University Men's Soccer team netted a goal in each half en route to a 2-0 shutout of Pitt-Bradford at Muskingum University in the 2018 opener and head coaching debut of Sean Elvert!

Sophomore Christian Zapata (Livonia, MI/Adlai E. Stevenson) capitalized on a touch from Bishop Williamson (West Liberty, Ohio/School Advertising Art), putting Bluffton up 1-0 with just over 15 minutes to play in the opening period. Fellow sophomore Christian Parker (Urbana, Ohio/West Liberty) made it 2-0 when he found paydirt midway through the second half as the Beavers downed Pitt-Bradford 2-0 in the season opener!

Bradford put up two more shots (14-12), but Bluffton placed two more on frame (6-4). The Beavers forced two more corners (4-2) as both teams finished with 10 fouls. Jackson Hefferman (Mount Vernon, Ohio/Mount Vernon) paced the victors with three shots, while Connor Kaminicki (Northfield, Ohio/Nordonia) turned away all four Bradford shots that he saw.

Bluffton wraps up its weekend at Muskingum against Pitt-Greensburg at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, when the Beavers will look to open up their 2018 campaign with aspotless 2-0 mark!
