Men place 7th at OWU Invitational

POWELL, Ohio - The Bluffton University cross country team hit the road for an early morning meet at Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019. The men's team placed 7th with a final score of 208 while the women's team took 6th with a final score of 138.

Dakota Frost (Edgerton/Hicksville) paced the Beaver's men's team, coming in 15th place with a time of 27:10.7 for the 8-kilometer race. Freshmen Britton Boyle (Middletown) and Max Chandler (Liberty Township/Lakota East) ran a hard race as well, crossing the finish line at 28:06.3 and 28:40.5, respectively. Rounding out the scorers for Bluffton were Connor Gulick (St. Louisville/Utica), Austin Hernandez (Marion/Ridgedale) and Zion Cook (North Baltimore).

Leading the Beaver women was senior Alexis Cash (Gaines, MI/Lake Fenton) with a 10th place finish in 24:03.5 for the 8-kilometer race. Bailie Barrington (Waynesfield/Waynesfield-Goshen) and Kimberly Hetrick (Fremont/Ross) followed close behind, crossing the finish line at 24:44.4 and 25:23.9, respectively. Arie Cox (Ontario), Tami Groff (Versailles), Hope Nixon (Jamestown/Jamestown-Monroe) and Justine Lesniewski (Mantua/Crestwood) capped off the scoring seven.

The Beavers will now begin training for the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Cedarville University on Saturday, Sept. 28. The race is slated for 1 p.m.
