Sept. 9, 2008

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team suffered its second straight setback, 3-0, at Heidelberg on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008. The Student Princes knocked in two first half scores and added a second half goal for the final 3-0 shutout of the Beavers in a night contest at Tiffin.

CAROLYN GROSS ripped her third goal of the season 15 minutes into the contest, giving Heidelberg the early 1-0 advantage. 15 minutes later, IVY THOMPSON connected from the left side to make the score 2-0 over the visitors.

Bluffton held the Student Princes down throughout most of the second half until RACHEL JOHANN chipped over Bluffton keeper KATY WISBY (Lancaster/Bloom-Carroll) for the final score of the game with 12 minutes to play.

Heidelberg rifled 22 shots, including 15 on target, while limiting Bluffton to just five shots, all by freshman KOURTNEY LEWIS (Arlington/Riverdale), for the contest. The Student Princes forced the issue with 12 corner kicks to just two for the Beavers. The home team was whistled for 14 infractions, twice as many as Bluffton. Heidelberg kept Wisby busy in goal as she picked up 12 saves in the loss.

Bluffton returns to action when the Beavers travel to Rochester College in Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008. The contest is slated to start at 2 p.m.
