BLUFFTON, Ohio - On Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, the Bluffton University women's soccer team defeated the Heidelberg University Student Princes in a double overtime thriller, 1-0. Providing the winning goal for the Beavers was sophomore TERRILL WEBB (Kenton) who scored in the 102nd minute. It marked Bluffton's first ever women's soccer victory over Heidelberg after eight straight setbacks, the last in 2008.

Webb led the team with four shots, including three on frame, while freshman BRITTANY HUFF (Union/Northmont) fired three shots in the win. It was a homecoming for Heidelberg graduate assistant coach Aimee Whitmer, in her first season with the Student Princes following a decorated career with the Beavers. Whitmer was a four-year All-Heartland Conference performer who was selected the Kathryn E. Little Award winner as the outstanding female senior athlete this past April.

This win moved Bluffton to 3-6, while Heidelberg fell to 3-6-1. The Student Princes outshot the Beavers 21-11, including a marked 13-4 edge on frame, but the visitors were unable to get it past Bluffton keeper KATIE NEELEY(Huber Heights/Wayne). Neely collected 10 saves in the win over Heidelberg. Also aiding the Bluffton cause were 15 offsides calls and a Beaver defense that kept the shutout intact with three team saves.

The Beavers will have a chance to extend their winning streak when they travel to face the Panthers of Hanover on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 1 p.m. in the initial Heartland Conference contest of the season.
