BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Manchester University Spartans found the wet, slippery conditions to their liking as they found the back of the net four times in the opening stanza en route to the convincing 5-0 shutout at Bluffton on Tuesday, Oct. 14. The Beavers fell to 3-9-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the Heartland Conference, while Manchester improved to 6-7 on the season and 3-1 in the HCAC.

It was a battle in the midfield until the ninth minute when KATELYN BARTA put the Spartans up 1-0. Manchester took advantage of the early momentum, scoring two more times in the next eight minutes before adding a fourth goal of the half at the 37:21 mark. An ALLISON MOORE tally in the 54th minute made the score 5-0, ending the scoring as Manchester moved to 3-1 in the conference with its third shutout of the season.

The Beavers were able to outshoot the Spartans 20-19, including 11-10 on frame, but the visitors capitalized five times from close range. KATIE NEELEY (Huber Heights/Wayne) had five saves for Bluffton while KRISTEN TROPF (Findlay/Van Buren) fired a match-high nine shots. DANIELLE MCQUILLIN (Delta/Pike-Delta-York) chipped in with four attempts, all on frame. The home team forced five more corner kicks (10-5)) than their counterparts.

The Bluffton women will compete again on Saturday, Oct. 18 against the Franklin College Grizzles. The Heartland Conference matchup will be held at the Sears Complex at 1 p.m. Come support your fellow Beavers!
