Muskingum pitches 2-0 shutout at Bluffton

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team took their home pitch for a contest against OAC foe Muskingum University on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019. The Beavers dropped a 2-0 decision to the Fighting Muskies. Bluffton fell to 3-5 on the season while Muskingum evened its record out at 4-4.

Just 22 seconds into the match, Muskingum's Natalie Woodward netted a shot to give the Muskies an early 1-0 lead when keeper Katie Bodenmiller launched a kick that got past the Bluffton defense. Woodward would secure another tally in minute 33 to give the visiting team a 2-0 lead which held up over the final 65 minutes for the shutout. Maddie Huffman (Maineville/Little Miami) led the Bluffton offense with five shots.

Bluffton put up five more shots (14-9) than Muskingum and the home team also forced all three corner kicks during the match. Both teams were whistled for 14 fouls along with one red card apiece. Junior keeper Sienna Sullivan (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) tallied three saves between the posts.

The Beavers are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 25, when they travel to Heidelberg University for their last match before conference play begins. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. in Tiffin. Go Beavers!
