ALBION, Mich. - The Bluffton University baseball team avenged a pair of Sunday losses to Albion with a convincing 5-2 win over the Britons on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. Bluffton improved to 16-18 on the season, while Albion fell to 13-20.

It was cold outside, however, the Bluffton bats were hot as Dylan Gray (Hilliard/Hilliard Bradley) singled in the top of the first inning, scoring Jack Towell (Batavia/West Clermont). Bluffton added another run in the top of the third thanks to an Albion error which allowed Ezra Deitering (Ottawa/Miller City) to scurry home. Gray then pounded a single to center, scoring Jake Baumgartner (Toledo/Start) for a 3-0 lead.

The Britons scored two in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a double and an error. The Beavers responded when a Deitering single in the top of the 8th drove home Gray and Kindred, putting the game on ice in the process.

Wyatt Groves (Marengo/Highland) secured the win and he moved to 2-1 on the year while Spencer Garrison (West Salem/Northwestern) worked a scoreless ninth for his first save of the season. Seth Altman (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) allowed just one hit in four shutout innings for the visitors. He fanned four, while Groves and Garrison both struck out two Britons.

Deitering and Gray led the way for the Beaver bats with two hits and two RBI's apiece.

Bluffton jumps right back into action on Thursday, April 28, when Ohio Northern makes the short trip from Ada to Memorial Field. Game time is slated for 4:15 p.m.
