Bluffton rallies for 4-3 win at Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's soccer team rallied with two goals from Jackson Clark in the final two minutes to defeat Heidelberg University 4-3 on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023! Bluffton improved to 2-1 on the season with its second straight victory.

With Bluffton trailing 3-2 and less than two minutes to play, junior Jackson Clark (Mount Blanchard/Riverdale) netted the equalizer at the 88:21 mark. But a tie wasn't good enough for Clark and he blasted the game winner with 16 seconds on the clock!

Goals by Elijah Zimmerman (Archbold) and Tarrel McRay (Kingston, Jamaica/Calabar) pushed Bluffton to a 2-1 advantage at the break. Two tallies by the Student Princes early in the second period had the home team on the precipice of victory before Clark delivered his two hammers!

Bluffton fired six more shots (17-11) in the victory, including two more on frame (7-5). The Beavers forced all 10 corner kicks on Wednesday afternoon.

Clark made both of his shots count for the visitors. Zimmerman and John Seliskar (Sunbury/Buckeye Valley) led the way with five and four shots, respectively. Angel Velasco-Urbina (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) picked up two saves while improving to 2-1 between the pipes.

Bluffton will play its fourth straight road match on Saturday, Sept. 9, when the Beavers travel to Baldwin Wallace for a 7 p.m. start.
