Beavers down Muskingum 3-1 on the road

NEW CONCORD, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's soccer team fell behind early before scoring three unanswered goals for a 3-1 victory at Muskingum University on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023. The Beavers are off to a red-hot 4-2 start, while Muskingum stands 1-4-1 on the season.

Muhfuz Yakubu got the home team on the board in minute 29, but Leonardo Campos (Santiago, Chile/Campbellsville University) hit paydirt eight minutes later. A Tarrel McRay (Kingston, Jamaica/Calabar) made it 2-1 Bluffton at the break.

Campos wasn't finished as he drilled his second goal of the match with just over a minute to play, handing the good guys a 3-1 road victory on a beautiful Saturday afternoon!

Bluffton fired away with a 24-14 advantage in shots, including 10-7 on frame. The visitors forced one more corner kick (5-4) and both teams were called for 11 fouls.

Campos and Elijah Zimmerman (Archbold) both ripped five shots at the Fighting Muskies. Campos put four of his on target. Junior Angel Velasco-Urbina (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) picked up five saves for the victors.

The Beavers jump right back into action on Sunday, Sept. 17, when they welcome Pitt-Greensburg. Kickoff at the Sears Complex is slated for 3 p.m. so go to church, eat your lunch and head to the field to watch Bluffton shoot for its fifth victory of the season!
