Bluffton notches 1-1 tie at Anderson

BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Bluffton University men's soccer team picked up a Heartland Conference point with a 1-1 tie at Anderson on Saturday, Sept. 30. The Beavers moved to 5-3-1 (1-0-1 HCAC) while the Ravens now stand 7-3-2 (0-1-1).

Anderson found the back of the net first at the 16:17 mark in the opening half for a 1-0 lead. A strong Bluffton defense coupled with an unassisted goal by Benjamin Davidson (Archbold) saw the Beavers tie the game up 1-1. Neither team's offense was able to connect with the net again as the Saturday duel ended in a 1-1 tie.

The Beavers tallied six shots on Saturday. Two shots were put on goal, one from Elijah Zimmerman (Archbold) and then the other the goal from Davidson. Bluffton keeper Angel Velasco-Urbina (Lexington, KY/Henry Clay) racked up five saves for the visitors.

Anderson out-shot Bluffton 14-6, including 7-0 in the opening half, and it forced three more corner kicks (4-1). The Beavers had five more saves (6-1) and were whistled for two fewer fouls (11-9).

The Beavers are back in action when they travel south down Interstate 75 to Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. Go Beavers!
