Lee and Bruns lead the way for Beavers

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's swimmers scorched the record book at Wittenberg on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022. When the dust settled Friday night, the Beavers had five more records on their resume thanks to a whale of a night by freshmen Keevan Lee (Mount Cory/Cory-Rawson) and Riley Bruns (Maria Stein/Marion Local)!

Lee sparkled with three Bluffton records, including the 200-yard IM (2:29.61), the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.29) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.44). He took first in the fly and second in the individual medley.

Also showing off with a pair of school records was Bruns who dominated the 100-yard freestyle field with a school-record 55.95 on Friday night. Bruns also moved to the top of the Bluffton charts with a 24.78 in the 50-yard freestyle.

Freshman Sydney Grisier (Bryan) claimed gold in the 1-meter dive with a finals score of 124.70 (3rd all-time) and she moved to 4th all-time with a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (31.50).

Senior Alejandra Valenzuela (Lima, Honduras/Santa Maria del Valle) added a pair of 2nd place finishes worth four points apiece in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke.

Bluffton will head west from Springfield to HCAC-rival Franklin College for a Saturday matchup with the Grizzlies on November 12. The tri-match which includes Centre College from Kentucky is slated to part the waters at 1 p.m. Indiana time at Franklin High School.
