Beavers tackle HCAC foes at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Bluffton University Swimming and Diving Team overcame injuries and illness while battling a pair of Heartland Conference foes at Franklin College on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023. 

The Beavers had a great showing in the tri-match with Manchester University and the host Grizzlies. On the women's side, sophomore Grace Beck (Lima/Homeschooled) continued to lay down some strong times en route to 3rd-place finishes in both in the 50-yard and the 100-yard freestyle. In the 100 free, she was able to drop nearly four-tenths off her own school record with a blazing time of 56.94!

Sydney Grisier (Bryan) completed her first 11-dive meet on the 1-meter board with a combined score of 250.70 which is a new school record for the Beavers.

Freshman Grant Patton (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley) broke the 200 backstroke record by over two seconds with a time of 2:32.66. Sophomore Riley Bruns (Maria Stein/Marion Local) set a pair of school records in the 100 freestyle (55.70) and 200 breaststroke (3:36.25).

Bluffton will be off next weekend before traveling back to Canton for the Malone Invitational at the Branin Natatorium. The mid-season meet runs Thursday, Nov. 16, through Saturday, Nov. 18.
