Bruns takes down school record in 100 freestyle

ADA, Ohio - The Bluffton University swimming and diving team kicked off a busy weekend with a tri-meet at Ohio Northern, facing off against the College of Wooster and the host Polar Bears.

Sophomore Sydney Grisier (Bryan) just missed out on a gold in the 1-meter dive, but she moved to the top of Bluffton's record book with a score of 1:55.00 on Friday night! Her score of 1:14.30 in the 3-meter dive placed Grisier 2nd on the all-time list.

Freshman Havin Montague (Celina) also got in on the record setting at ONU, swimming a 4:15.00 in the 200-yard butterfly. Grace Beck (Lima) placed 3rd in the 50-yard freestyle, continuing her assault on the Bluffton record books (4th all-time) with a time of 25.32.

Shattering the school record with a 55.64 in the 100-yard freestyle was sophomore Riley Bruns (Maria Stein/Marion Local). Freshman Grant Patton (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley) moved to 3rd all-time with a 2:29.18 in the 200-yard backstroke.

Bluffton jumps right back into the pool on Saturday, Jan. 13, when the Beavers welcome Wittenberg to the Lima YMCA at 3 p.m.
