Men battle ONU and OWU at Ada

ADA, Ohio - The Bluffton University Swimming and Diving team was back at Ohio Northern for the second time in eight days on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024.

Grace Beck (Lima/Homeschooled) dominated the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.77, winning the race by over a second! She followed that up with a 2nd place finish in the 100, moving into 5th all-time at Bluffton with a 57.41.

Sophomore Sydney Grisier (Bryan) eclipsed her school record in the 3-meter dive with a score of 150.70 points, over 30 points more than her previous best! She was also victorious in the 1-meter dive with a total score of 143.05 which is 5th all-time for the Beavers. Her 7:59.08 was good for third on Saturday night.

Just missing out on a school record in the 100 yard backstroke was freshman Grant Patton (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley). His 1:06.14 was just 5 hundredths of a second off Patton's own school mark (1:06.09). Riley Bruns (Maria Stein/Marion Local) and Patton went 24:67 and 25:12 in the 50 yard freestyle.

Bluffton heads to Notre Dame College for a tri-match with Baldwin Wallace and host Notre Dame at 5 p.m. next Friday, Jan. 20 before hosting Manchester on Saturday.
