DELAWARE, Ohio - On Saturday, April 16, the Beavers took members of the team who qualified to compete in the All-Ohio meet at Ohio Wesleyan University. While the day started out with rain, the sun came out during the meet, giving the athletes a shot at some good weather conditions.

In the men's discus, junior Michael Lindhorst (Lindsey/Woodmore) had an excellent throw, placing 6th and setting a new PR with a mark of 38.30. "I really want to keep moving the mark," said Assistant Coach Stephanie Fox, who works with the throwers, "And hopefully get 40+ meters in the disc."

Coach Fox commented on the performance on the day of junior Emma Payne (Hicksville) by saying, "I'm very happy with Emma's performance as well. She has been throwing very consistently this past season. So, as I've been saying, I'm excited to see what she does this week and at conference. I know she has some big throws coming!" Fox was also pleased with sophomore Amanda Scott (Millbury/Lake), saying, "Amanda had a good day as well, and had a really good last throw that she was upset about fouling on! It would've been a PR if she hadn't fouled! So, I'm really excited to see how she throws at ONU (the upcoming meet)."

Sophomore Desmond Gist (Detroit, Mich./Trenton) performed very well on the day, taking gold in two events! Gist won the long jump competition with a leap of 6.91m, as well as the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.34.

Also performing very well on Saturday was freshman Kodi Cooper (Harper Woods, Mich.) with two big PRs. In the 100 meter dash, Cooper finished in 9th, setting a PR with a time of 11.25. He also set a new PR in the 200m dash, finishing with a time of 22.77 and placing 9th.

Junior Madalynn Schifer (Bucyrus) ran an excellent race, setting a big new PR in the women's 100m dash with a time of 13.10.

In the men's 400m race, freshman Russell Lough (Wintersville/Indian Creek) placed 3rd and set a new PR of 50.58. Also in the 400m race, Blayden McCoy (Fresno/Ridgewood) finished in 8th, setting a new PR of 51.65.

Finally, the men's 4x4 team composed of McCoy, Lough, Gist, and freshman Jayden McConnell (Sunbury/Big Walnut) finished in 4th with a time of 3:26.10. This time currently places them at the top of the conference.

"It was great to get to compete against strong Division III competition from across the state," said Head Coach Scott Black, "And I think we did a good job stepping up against some quality programs."

The Beavers continue to train in preparation for the Mike Becraft Invitational at Ohio Northern this weekend, followed by the HCAC Outdoor Championships at Hanover on April 29 and 30.
