DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Bluffton University cross country teams traveled to Defiance College for the Yellow Jacket Invitational on September 12, 2009.
Heather Smith (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) turned in the best finish for the women's team with a time of 22:08 which was good for 16th place. Kaitlyn Kelly (Middlefield/Cardinal) came in 17th with a time of 22:26. Also running for the women's side was Katy Heffner (Troy) putting in a time of 22:52, Alison Janzen (Whitewater, KS/Remington) in 22:52 and Sarah Binkley (Bluffton/Cory Rawson) with a time of 23:40.
On the men's side, Andy Chaffee (Clarkston Mich.) put together Bluffton's top time with a run of 29:58, good for 13th place. Senior Ben Siebert (Celina) turned in a time of 34:04. Other Bluffton runners included Jeremy Kidder (New Carlisle/Tecumseh) who finished in 36:25, Robert Hooley (Bluffton) in 37:00 and Kevin Hickman (Centerburg) with a time of 37:36.
The Beavers will next travel to Cedarville University on September 19, 2009. The meet is slated to start at 10:00 a.m.
