April 2, 2008

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University's LINDSEY MILLER (Wapakoneta/Wapakoneta) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Player of the Month for her efforts on the softball field in March. She is the first female athlete at Bluffton to earn this honor, and only the fourth Beaver ever to receive a Player of the Month award. The junior shortstop led the Beavers to a 10-12 record in March.

Miller went 33-of-66 at the plate and finished the month with an HCAC-best .500 batting average. For the season, she ranks among the HCAC leaders in slugging percentage (.879), RBI (28), on-base percentage (.532), doubles (7), runs scored (16) and home runs (6). Her six home runs have already set a new single-season record at Bluffton.

The junior was named HCAC Hitter of the Week for both of the first two weeks of the 2008 season. While in Florida for the first 10 games of the 2008 campaign, Miller smoked opposing pitching at a .515 clip (17-of-33). She ended the 10-game stretch with 11 RBI, nine runs, five doubles and a home run.

In the second game against Cedarville on March 25, Miller went 3-of-3 with two home runs, four RBI and two runs scored as the Beavers completed a sweep of the Lady Jackets with a 9-2 victory.

The HCAC Player of the Month award is in its third year of existence. It is voted on by the sports information directors of each member institution.
