Huff named top Senior Athlete

April 18, 2018

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Kathryn E. Little Award is named after Kate, a long-time friend, teacher, coach and supporter of Bluffton University. Mrs. Little served in the department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation and athletics from 1958 to 1974 and was instrumental in making the women's athletic program what it is today. In 1974 she was a member of the first induction class into the Bluffton Athletic Hall of Fame.

The Kathryn E. Little Award is presented to an outstanding senior woman athlete for four years of participation in at least one sport. The award is based on scholarship, academic abilities and campus leadership.  The recipient of this year's prestigious award will be given to BRITTANY HUFF (Clayton/Northmont).

Brittany is the daughter of David & Kathy Huff. She is an education major who has been on the Dean's List with Distinction every semester along with her GPA of 3.86. Brittany is a member of Pi Lambda Theta since 2016, an RA for 2 years, a Hall Director this current school year and she has been a Student Ambassador for three years. She also is currently serving as the Vice President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

A two-sport standout, Huff has been a member of the women's soccer team and softball team for the past four years. While on the soccer team, Brittany was a captain the past two seasons, the Team MVP in 2017, been an All-HCAC Honorable Mention, All-HCAC 2nd Team, All-HCAC Academic All-Conference as well as multiple other awards. She ended her career with 14 total goals, including the game-winning goal to beat Rose-Hulman for only the 2nd time in school history.

As a member of the softball team, Brittany has been the starting shortstop all four seasons. She currently is ranked 2nd all-time with 25 career home runs and 111 runs scored. Huff is 6th all-time with 147 career hits, while her 95 RBI are tied for 5th. Brittany has also earned HCAC All-Academic honors the past three seasons.

COACH DEMOINE HAD THIS TO SAY ABOUT BRITTANY:

"All of these impressive statistics that B Huff has accomplished on the field and that is still not the most remarkable thing about her. Her exuberant attitude is what makes her special. She has been battling through multiple injuries through the season, but you would never know that watching her with her teammates.  Still with a smile on her face, still picking up her teammates, still telling all those jokes. You can walk up to almost any person on campus and I bet you they all know Brittany Huff, and you know darn well they've all heard one of her dad jokes. Her attitude, integrity and work ethic is what makes her special in everything she does, and makes her so deserving of this award."
