GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Bluffton University softball team lost a pair of games to Calvin University on Tuesday, Mar. 28, 2023. Bluffton slipped to 8-8 overall on the season while Calvin improved to 11-5.

The Beavers struggled to hit the ball in both games as they notched only one safety in the first game and one in the second. The result was a 9-0 mercy-rule setback in the lidlifter and a 4-0 defeat in the second game of the back-to-back.

Erin Norman (Pleasant Hill/Newton) took the loss in the first game, dipping to 5-3 on the season with freshman Julia Tegeder (Hamilton) notching a single in the first inning. Grace Fillinger (Hinckley/Highland) fell to 3-3 with a loss in the second game. Freshman Elizabeth Crites (Findlay) led off game two with a base hit to right and that was the only Beaver knock in game two.

Bluffton will look to get back on track with another road trip to Michigan on Thursday, March 30, when they battle Albion in another non-conference doubleheader. The first of the two games is set to start at approximately 3 p.m.
