Beavers swat Hornets at Hidden Creek

BEAVERDAM, Ohio - Heavy rain on Sunday turned Bluffton's opening match of the year into a home contest against Kalamazoo College on Labor Day. With both days of the Polar Bear Classic at ONU canceled, Hidden Creek took center stage with MIAA power Kalamazoo looking for an opponent and somewhere to play 18 holes.

Sophomore Allie Waggener (Hilliard/Hilliard Bradley) powered Bluffton to a three-shot win (351-354) with her career-best 78 which places her second on the all-time list for 18 holes. Kiley Cline (Fostoria/Hopewell Louden) followed up with an 83, good for 4th on Monday. Senior Haley Gill (Indianapolis, IN/Franklin Central) and freshman Sara Kroeger (Cincinnati/Mount Notre Dame) rounded out the scorers with a pair of 95's to hold off Kalamazoo.

Isabel Miller (Dayton/Centerville) had a career-day, firing a 96 at Hidden Creek. Shelby Stammen (Fort Recovery) and Cheyanne Bolden (Sidney) went 101 and 106 in the 2022 season opener.

The women return to action on Saturday, Sept. 17, when they travel to Manchester University for a two-day event.
