White and Woods earn All-HCAC honors

Heartland Conference Release

BLUFFTON, Ohio – When the 2022 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference awards were handed out, two members of the Bluffton University volleyball team at opposite ends of their respective careers were honored. Fifth-year senior Maddie White (Ashland) and freshman Jenna Woods (DeGraff/Riverside) were selected Second Team All-HCAC after a regular season that saw Bluffton earn the sixth seed and with it another trip to the conference tournament.

White did it all for the Beavers in her final season. She set, she hit, she served, she blocked and she played defense. Sometimes all on the same point! Bluffton's swiss army knife, White currently stands 8th all-time with 1,831 assists heading into the HCAC Tournament. She has 531 kills and 199 total blocks with a .105 hitting percentage. From the service line, White fired a career-best 35 aces, giving her 84 during her five years. She has also been a force in the back with 730 digs, including 235 this year. White's diverse body of work helped the fifth-year senior secure her first post-season All-HCAC award.

On the opposite end of her time at Bluffton is Jenna Woods who, like White, stepped right into a starting role and never looked back. The power-hitting freshman pounded a team-best 230 kills (2.30 kills per set) and tallied 257.5 points, also a high-water mark for the Beavers. Her 230 kills are 10th all time for a freshman spiker at Bluffton. Woods was in on 41 blocks, served a pair of aces and picked up 68 digs.

The Beavers have secured the six seed in the conference tournament and will travel to Richmond, IN, for a rematch against the Earlham Quakers on Wednesday, Nov. 2. Check the Bluffton schedule page on the website for Live Stat and Live Video links Wednesday night.
