Heidelberg dominates Bluffton at Snowbird Classic, 20-1

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - The Bluffton University baseball team lost to #5 Heidelberg, 20-1, on Wednesday, March 5, 2009, at Port Charlotte, Florida, while competing in the Snowbird Classic. The Beavers fell to 3-3 on the season, while the Student Princes remain perfect at 4-0.

The only run for the Beavers was a Brennan Bauman (Milford) score in the eighth inning. Bauman drew a leadoff walk and came around following a Mike Ramthun (Springfield/Southeastern) double to right field.

Sophomore Nathan Blanton (Cincinnati/LaSalle) started and pitched the first three innings, giving up eight hits, six runs, and three walks. Heidelberg pounded out 20 runs on 19 hits in the convincing victory over the Beavers. Junior Cody McPherson (Northwood/Millbury Lake) went 2-of-3 at the plate to lead the Purple and White.

Bluffton will return to the diamond on Thursday, March 5, when the Beavers face John Carroll. The contest is slated for 11 a.m. in Port Charlotte, Florida.
