Bluffton College scored on their first four possessions and held Manchester College to just 199 yards in total offense as the Beavers rolled to a 38-3 victory on Saturday afternoon at Manchester's Carl W. Burt Stadium.

Bluffton improves to 3-4 overall and is now tied for third place in the Heartland Conference with a 2-2 league record. Manchester falls to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in the HCAC.

Senior Ben Schwab intercepted two passes and senior Jeff Company had one pickoff as the BC defense held the hosts to under 100 yards passing and just 2.7 yards per rush.

The Beaver defense, led by 18 tackles from sophomore linebacker Chris Sommers, set up numerous scoring opportunities for the BC offense, which took full advantage en route to 384 yards in total offense.

Jovan Johnson rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns and Brad Moore was 10-17 passing for 164 yards and a TD.

Bluffton took a 17-0 lead after one quarter as Johnson scored on TD runs of 29 and four yards and junior Adam Burgess nailed a 45 yard field goal. In the second quarter Moore scampered in from seven yards out and the Beavers took a 24-3 lead at halftime.

Jim Dwenger caught a 16-yard TD pass late in the third quarter and moments later Schwab picked off his second pass of the day, which set up a seven yard scoring run by sophomore T.J. Phlipot, who rushed for 72 yards on the afternoon.

Schwab's two interception returns totaled 18 yards, while Company returned his pick 42 yards.

Senior Jon Spradling caught five passes for 102 yards, including a 50-yarder on Bluffton first possession setting up the Beavers first score.

Bluffton returns home next Saturday to take on Franklin College at 1:30 in Salzman Stadium.
