Bluffton College junior running back Jovan Johnson (Columbus, Ohio/West H.S.) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference offensive player-of-the-week after setting two school records and one HCAC record in leading Bluffton to a 34-21 HCAC win over Franklin College Saturday. Johnson scored five touchdowns for 30 points for two BC single-game records and he ended the day with 105 yards rushing on 29 carries. Johnson also led the BC receiving corps with four catches for 58 yards. The five rushing TDs also set an HCAC record as Johnson picked up the third HCAC player-of-the-week award of his career.

He was honored twice last season on his way to leading the league in rushing with 1,096 yards. He was named first-team All-HCAC. Johnson currently leads the HCAC in all-purpose yards (170.2 ypg) and kickoff return average (26.7 ypr) and ranks second in scoring (9.0 ppg). He ranks fourth in rushing (67.0 ypg) and receptions (5.6 rpg) and eighth in receiving yards (57.8 ypg).
