BLUFFTON , OHIO - Bluffton College football (2-1) earned two awards for their efforts on Saturday's win over Husson College 36-6. Sophomore Jared Owens (Van Wert/Crestview) and senior Pat Craun (Sidney/Sidney) have been named players of the week by the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Owens was the instrumental offensive threat for the Beavers on Saturday as he scored a total of four touchdowns. Owens rushed for touchdowns from 1, 10 and 4 yards out and threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Mark Gable. He finished the day in the air with 152 yards on 11 of 16 attempts. On the ground Owens had 11 carries for 72 yards. Currently, he is third in the HCAC in total offense, averaging 214 yards per game.

Defensively, Craun posted nine tackles in the contest. One tackle for a loss, one sack, and a pass break up were also among the linebacker's statistics. He helped Bluffton's defense keep Husson to only 236 total yards on the day. Craun has totaled 21 tackles in three games for the Beavers.

"I'm happy that the player of the week awards reflects on how our team played as a whole for the game," coach Greg Brooks said.

Bluffton will be in action this Saturday when they travel to Urbana University . Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
