BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University football players Matt Chiles (Sidney/Sidney) and Aaron Whitlock (Grove City/Central Crossing) have been honored as Heartland Conference players-of-the-week in defense and special teams. Both men scored touchdowns in Bluffton's 30-0 shutout of rival Defiance College last Saturday.

Chiles, a senior defensive back, posted 11 total tackles, 0.5 tackle for loss, forced one fumble and returned an interception 43-yards for a touchdown last Saturday. This is the second time of 2004 that Chiles has been honored as HCAC defensive player-of-the-week.

Whitlock, a freshman wide receiver and special teams player, scored his first touchdown of the year on Saturday when he fell on a Defiance fumble. Defiance fumbled the ball in the end zone off of a kickoff in the middle of the third quarter of the game. Whitlock took advantage of the situation to give Bluffton their second of three touchdowns within a minute and a half of each other.

Bluffton University finished the 2004 campaign with a 5-5 overall, 3-3 Heartland Conference record.
