Jeremy Anderson named HCAC Player of the Week

September 18, 2006

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Senior Jeremy Anderson (South Rockwood, Mich./Airport) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference special teams' football Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 17, 2006.

Anderson returned just one kickoff on Saturday in the Beavers' 17-6 loss at Adrian, but he took it back 95 yards for the only Bluffton points of the day following a Bulldog touchdown in the second quarter. He also collected seven solo tackles and broke up a pass from his cornerback position for the Beavers.

His award marks the second consecutive season that he has been honored by the HCAC as special teams' Player of the Week. He earned the mention in 2005 following the Adrian contest in which he returned three kickoffs for 82 yards, including a 39-yarder at Salzman Stadium. Anderson was named HCAC Player of the Week for his work on defense against Hanover College last year as well. In that contest, he picked off two passes, had six tackles and two TFL's as the Beavers knocked off the Panthers for the first time since 1990, 33-19.

The Beavers are 0-2 on the season and they will welcome Kalamazoo College to Salzman Stadium on September 23, 2006, for the home opener on Bluffton University Community Day. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
