Thompson named Player of Week in HCAC

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University kicker Jonathan Thompson (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week on special teams.

The junior scored 11 points in Bluffton's 23-15 victory over Kalamazoo on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008. Thompson drilled field goals from 18, 24 and 32 yards, while converting both of his extra point attempts. He also punted seven times for 252 yards with a long punt of 50 yards.

He just missed his final attempt wide-right from 46 yards late in the fourth quarter on Saturday. Thompson ranks third in the HCAC with three made field goals.

Bluffton returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 4, when the Beavers open HCAC action in Salzman Stadium against Mt. St. Joseph. The Homecoming contest is slated to start at 1:30 p.m.
