BLUFFTON, Ohio - When the Bluffton University football team welcomes HCAC foe Mount St. Joseph on Saturday, Sept. 25, Head Coach Tyson Veidt and his staff will be wearing Coach to Cure Muscular Dystrophy patches on the sidelines. They will be among the thousands of coaches across the nation participating in this annual event.

Coach to Cure MD is a partnership between the American Football Coaches Association and Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD), the largest nonprofit organization in the United States focused entirely on Duchenne muscular dystrophy, the leading childhood genetic killer of young men.

Coach to Cure MD is a nation-wide project designed to build awareness about the disorder and raise money to support researchers trying to find a treatment and cure.

2010 marks the Bluffton staff's third consecutive year participating in Coach to Cure MD. Coach Veidt stated, "The Bluffton University coaches hope that by participating in this partnership and volunteering we may build awareness and increase funding for research and ultimately a cure for MD."

In addition, Bluffton University and the football coaches will partner with the American Cancer Society on Sept. 25 in support of Breast Cancer research. Many athletic contests around the country will feature the color pink as teams support the fight against cancer.
