BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University cornerback Oscar Vazquez-Dyer (Findlay/Carey) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week on defense for the week ending November 14, 2010.
Vazquez-Dyer picked off Defiance quarterback Rick Powell midway through the second quarter and took it back 66 yards for a touchdown in what turned out to be the game-winning score as the Beavers held on for a 21-16 win. The junior added seven tackles, including four solos, in the victory.
The Beavers capped their best season since 2004 with a season-ending win over Defiance College which had been victorious in six of the last eight meetings between the Northwest Ohio rivals.
